General

A: Every year, the institution hosts a week-long celebration of the research and education programs that take place here at Children’s National. It includes multiple days of poster sessions wherein scientists, physicians, nurses, and staff display the projects they are working on in a scientific poster format. The week also includes lectures, workshops, and networking opportunities and concludes in an award ceremony and reception.

Abstract Submission (December 1, 2017- January 15, 2018)

A: After logging into the abstract submission application and selecting the option to add an abstract, the following sections are displayed:
  • In Section A applicants need to provide the category, division, theme of their abstract and any project support. For the abstract, an abstract title is required as well as the body of the abstract (background, objective, design/methods, and results/discussion) which has a size limit of 300 words.
  • In Section B applicants need to provide each author’s credentials and contact information (if available).
  • In Section C applicants need to provide the name, email, and contact number of the main contact who will receive all logistical information and details regarding poster presentations, scoring, etc.
A: Our team cannot accept any abstracts or abstract changes after January 15, 2018. The process for our team to review, organize, and publish the abstracts takes several weeks and each change after the application closes requires a manual change in all of the Research, Education and Innovation Week materials. For this reason, we cannot make any exceptions.
A: Our team will only accept changes before January 15, 2018. If you would like to make a change before then, please contact researchweek@childrensnational.org.
A: We hope to send out communication by the end of January or early February.

A: Posters that are not hung up on the day that they are assigned will not be judged. If you are unable to hang up your poster by 10:00am, please ask someone else to do it for you.
